Word & Character Counter
Live counts as you type — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs — plus whether your text fits common platform limits.
🔒 Everything is counted in your browser. Your text is never uploaded.
How the counts work
A word is any run of non-space characters, so hyphenated terms count as one and numbers count as words — the same convention publishers and word processors use. Characters are counted both with and without spaces, because social platforms count spaces but some form limits do not. Sentences are estimated from terminal punctuation, and paragraphs from blank-line breaks.
The platform-limit chips
The colored chips show your character count against four common ceilings — a 280-character tweet, a 60-character SEO title, a 160-character meta description, and a 160-character SMS. Green means you fit; red means you are over.
